Ketua Polis Daerah Iskandar Puteri, Asisten Komisioner M Kumarasan, menyatakan bahawa pihaknya menerima panggilan daripada orang awam mengenai kejadian tersebut pada jam 11.40 pagi.
Beliau berkata, semua mangsa telah dibawa ke Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA), manakala enam lagi pekerja warga asing tidak mengalami sebarang kecederaan.
“Hasil pemerhatian mendapati kejadian berlaku sekitar jam 11.30 pagi, dipercayai melibatkan sebuah kilang yang terbakar dan menyimpan bahan kimia yang disyaki ‘thinner’, sehingga menyebabkan kebakaran besar,” katanya.

“Pada masa ini, pihak bomba sedang berusaha memadamkan kebakaran, dan api sudah berjaya dikawal walaupun belum sepenuhnya padam,” katanya ketika ditemui di lokasi kejadian di sini, hari ini.
Dalam pada itu, Kumarasan turut meminta penduduk setempat agar tidak mendekati kawasan kejadian untuk melihat lebih dekat.
“Asap masih ada dan mungkin boleh menjejaskan kesihatan, jadi saya mohon penduduk supaya tidak ke lokasi. Biarkan kami menjalankan siasatan,” katanya.
